We speak out on investment in staff development and career planning

Our Director of Strategic Partnerships, Graham Leigh, has been invited to speak about why voluntary sector employers need to prioritise investment in staff development and career planning.

At a special breakfast briefing in central London on 26 February organised by the Resource Alliance, the global network for fundraising, resource mobilisation and philanthropy, Graham will talk about the implications of the latest voluntary sector employment statistics from the Labour Force Survey, that we released earlier this month.

The Resource Alliance’s free breakfast briefing event will look at how effective leadership can transform fundraising, particularly in the current economic climate, when under pressure staff worried about redundancies and restructuring can be at risk of becoming less productive.

Other speakers include:

- Geraldine Kilbride (Leadership Expert – London Business School) will discuss the key qualities of effective leadership, how middle managers can be effective leaders, and how to lead through times of change and crisis.

- Liz Monks (Director of Fundraising – Alzheimer’s Society) will share her own experiences of leading a fundraising department during challenging times, why leadership is so important and the value it can have on the whole organisation.

- Helen Hoare (Head of Legacies & Probate – Age UK) will talk about Age UK’s fundraising talent management programme and the impact it’s had on the charity.

- Sarah Masters (Head of International Programmes – The Resource Alliance) will outline the Future Leaders Programme for Fundraisers and discuss how it addresses many of the skills gaps found within the fundraising sector.
