Third sector support for apprenticeships: New Employers’ Forum launched
Skills - Third Sector and Fair Train have launched a new Employers Forum, which will:
- Support the development, understanding and promotion of apprenticeships in the third sector, including in charities, social enterprises and the voluntary and community sector.
- Provide practical, workshop-based advice on how to get involved with apprenticeships and how to support them within third sector organisations.
- Promote new “Advanced Apprenticeships” for the third sector.
If you are interested in finding out more or joining the Employer's Forum, please email Tom Watson at Fair Train. It's free to join.
The forum was launched at an event during Apprenticeship Week 2011 (7-11 February), and over 60 third sector employers were present. The event was organised by Skills – Third Sector, in conjuction with Fair Train, the sector’s employer association and the National Apprenticeship Service (NAS).
The event showed how they offer an excellent opportunity for addressing third sector skills shortcomings, contributing significantly to providing young people and adults with valuable work experience, skills training and work-based learning, leading to confident and sustainable futures.
To find out more about apprenticeships in the Third Sector, please visit the Fair Train website.
Download a press release (.doc) containing more information about the above. We also have a briefing available about Skills - Third Sector's work in developing a framework for Apprenticeships in the voluntary sector, which can be downloaded here (pdf).
