Award in Volunteer Management
The Award in Volunteer Management is a tried and tested, nationally recognised qualification for people who manage volunteers.
The Award
With support from Capacitybuilders, we are able offer an Award in Volunteer Management to people who manage volunteers. The Award in Volunteer Management is a tried and tested, nationally recognised, qualification that has been developed using the National Occupational Standards for volunteer managers and the N/SVQ structure.
Where can I study?
The Award in Volunteer Management is delivered by training providers covering different regions so you should be able to find training close to where they live or work. We are working in partnership with established voluntary sector training providers, The London Learning Consortium (London), the Learning Curve (South East) , ViSTA (South West), Enable (East Midlands) and Voluntary Sector Training (East) to deliver the Award.
If you live and work outside these regions then visit the Capacitybuilders’ website for information about their Volunteer Management Programme running in other regions.
The background to the course
The Award for Volunteer Management is part of Capacitybuilders’ Volunteer Management Programme and is a level 3 (equivalent to A-levels) qualification.
We are one of four contract holders that are delivering skills packages (courses) within the Capacitybuilders’ Volunteer Management Programme. There are other contract holders working with other approved training providers covering other regions and offering different qualifications, some of them at levels 4 and 5 (degree level).
The Volunteer Management Programme is based on National Occupational Standards as Capacitybuilders wanted to ensure that all the training delivered as part of the programme was directly relevant to people who manage volunteers. Using National Occupational Standards means that the skills development packages are focused on and appropriate to the things that people who manage volunteers need to know.
The Volunteer Management Programme was a response to the recommendations set out in the 2008 Commission on the Future of Volunteering.
Accreditation
Learners have the option to log their Award in Volunteer Management on the new emerging qualification credit transfer framework and N/SVQ structure. This means you can have this training count towards any future training you might want to take. The Award in Volunteer Management is a nationally recognized qualification accredited by Lantra.
