Qualification Approval
Skills – Third Sector is responsible for five suites of National Occupational Standards and would expect to approve any qualifications based on these standards:
· Trustees NOS
· Fundraising NOS
· Campaigning NOS
· Management of Volunteers NOS
· Development Worker NOS
We work to the approval guidance developed by the Department for Business Innovation and Skills, supported by the Alliance of Sector Skills Councils and the Federation of Awarding Bodies.
When developing a new qualification, early dialogue with us is essential to enable a low scrutiny approach to be implemented. Any Awarding Organisation wishing to seek Skills Third Sector’s approval of a qualification should complete an approval form. We have also produced an assessment guidance document which has been developed in consultation with Awarding Organisations and employer groups. The document provides guidance and encourages best assessment practice from assessment centres and Awarding Organisations. The information is intended to support the quality assurance processes of Awarding Organisations that offer qualifications in the sector.
