Quality standards for trainers
Do you deliver accredited courses on voluntary sector topics or specialise in training for charities, social enterprises, community and voluntary organisations? Skills – Third Sector has produced guidance for training providers who want to achieve Training Quality Standards (TQS) Part B certification in Third Sector Workforce Development.
The TQS is a national quality assurance system for training providers. It consists of two parts – Part A which assesses employer responsiveness and Part B which assesses sector expertise. Training providers who wish to achieve the TQS standard must complete Part A and then can choose which sector(s) they wish to specialise in and seek Part B accreditation in each of those sectors.
Organisations looking to achieve Part B certification in Third Sector Workforce Development will offer training to voluntary sector employers which recognises the:
- diverse nature of third sector activity
- financial constraints
- sector-specific values and culture
- and unique nature of governance and accountability that applies to most organisations in the sector.
Providers will need to demonstrate that they have a coherent strategy for working with voluntary sector organisations, understand the sector and provide programmes that take into account the context within which voluntary sector organisations work.
